Longmont, CO, 03/13/25 — Fleet EForce Inc. is proud to announce the opening of its Gearbox Remanufacturing Center in Longmont, Colorado. This specialized facility is now fully equipped and staffed to repair and remanufacture the Meritor Gearboxes that are integral to the DuoPower drivetrain used in certain electric buses manufactured by Proterra Inc.
“After extensive Proterra Bus customer surveys, we learned that there is a large number of Meritor Gearboxes that are currently non-functional and unrepaired in the field. With this knowledge, we evaluated options to repair and or replace these units to quickly bring these buses back into service. With new units currently unavailable, we determined that the fastest and most efficient solution is for Fleet EForce to build the capability in-house to remanufacture these gearboxes,” said Tim Reeser, CEO of Fleet EForce.
After conducting a thorough engineering analysis of the Meritor Gearbox, the Fleet EForce team has already successfully remanufactured units, using replacement parts validated to provide longer service life, demonstrating its capability to extend the lifespan of these critical components while ensuring optimal performance for fleet operators.
SPECIAL INTRODUCTORY OFFER
To support transit agencies and operators transitioning to Fleet EForce’s gearbox services, the company is offering a limited-time introductory promotion:
- Through April 2025, operators of Proterra-manufactured buses can send up to three (3) non-functional Meritor Gearboxes to Fleet EForce for a FREE diagnostic and remanufacture estimate.
- Gearboxes will be diagnosed on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure timely service.
Commitment to Quality and Warranty Protection

- All Fleet EForce remanufactured Meritor Gearboxes come with a six-month warranty.
- If a Fleet EForce technician installs the remanufactured gearbox, the warranty is extended to 12 months, covering both parts and labor.
